Arthropods represent one of the most diverse groups of organisms, displaying an extraordinary range of morphologies and lifestyles while inhabiting nearly every environment on Earth. Their fossil record extends back to the Early Cambrian, providing a deep temporal framework to investigate evolutionary patterns, morphological innovations, and ecological diversification within the group.


Orsten-type preservation provides a unique window into palaeo-meiofaunal communities, and occured worldwide. This exceptional mode of preservation captures minute organisms, usually smaller than two present delicate structures such as setae. Thus, it represents a valuable source of information for reconstructing the morphology, ecology, and evolution of several groups


Evolution is the process by which organisms change over time through several mechanisms. This fundamental biological process generates morphological diversity, drives the diversification of groups and shapes ecological interactions across deep time. Understanding evolutionary patterns and processes is essential to reconstructing the history of life on Earth


Scientific illustrations are important tools for studying and communicating biological and palaeontological data.  By offering another point of view and highlighting specific details, illustrations help to better understand shapes, structures, and fine features. This makes them a valuable complement to photographs and other types of data, for both specialists and a broader audience.
